Flea control challenges

Flea control challenges | Flea control infestation | Flea control

Today I thought I’d share with you a very important e-mail I got last night from Doggy Dan’s team, and if you’re struggling with fleas, it’s a life-saver (and money-saver)! Even if you’re not struggling with fleas , you should read it anyway because prevention is better than cure!

PLUS this approach will:
Improve the health of your dog…
Improve the health of your home…
Save you time…and
Save you BIG BUCKS!

But back to the story…

Around two years ago we had a terrible nightmare… A flea infestation of the whole house…Yuck!! At the time we had a cat, 3 dogs, and 2 children aged 2 and 3 who were being bitten all the time and NOTHING could get rid of the fleas… NOTHING. It was horrible!

For months we used all these very expensive pour on products. Religiously. I must have tried about 5 different brands and found them all to be a complete waste of money. After a new round of treatment we had fleas jumping around on the dogs the very next day!In fact you have to question whether the fleas have become immune to the pour on products. More about that another day!

By that’s not all we used. We tried oils, powders, natural remedies, and everything else you can imagine. We’d vacuumed the entire house every day for weeks, washed all the bedding, and combed the dogs with flea combs twice a day. But we still couldn’t break the cycle. We’d tried everything, and I realized at this point that fleas are no joke! They just kept coming!

Have you ever been in this situation before? If you have, I really feel for you! We were exhausted. We were getting nowhere fast and I was beginning to feel like I was beat. Then out of the blue I had one of those chance conversations which changed everything.

I was chatting to a friend of mine called Shelley, who worked with dogs all the time, and she explained the secret to how they had no fleas at all… Ever!! First though, she explained the problem with just killing the ones on your dog using the very expensive pour on products.

“Dan the simple fact is that most of the fleas are not on your dog… 95% of the fleas are in the carpet, the bedding, they are under the couch etc…”So if you have 100 fleas in your house, jumping around laying eggs everywhere and you pour that product on your dog it only kills the 5 fleas that are on your dog.

BUT…

It DOESN’T kill the 95 fleas that are still jumping around your house laying thousands of eggs at a time. And it doesn’t kill all the thousands of larvae around your house that are about to hatch and start jumping in just a couple of hours time. So before you know it, you have fleas EVERYWHERE again! Including on your dogs!

Are you with me here? Am I making sense?” Shelley asked. “Yep… Yep… I know!” I replied, excited to be so close to a solution. “So you gotta kill ALL the fleas, ALL the eggs and ALL the larvae…or else you are wasting your time, and your money”

“Okay, okay” I replied becoming impatient. “So how do I do it?”

“IGR” Shelley said.

“Insect Growth Regulator”. Insect growth regulators (IGRs) are pesticides that don’t usually kill insects outright but instead affect the ability of insects to grow and mature …This substance stops infestations because it not only kills adult fleas but it also prevents the eggs and larvae from developing. In other words… it breaks the whole cycle.”

“So what is it? How does it work?” I Inquired…

“It’s a simple canister, sometimes called a flea bomb. You press the button, evacuate the house and return a couple of hours later to no fleas” Shelley replied. Well that was it. I was off. I literally ran to the store!

Now. Let’s fast forward a week… No fleas. That’s correct. They completely disappeared overnight. And I became the biggest IGR fan you can imagine! Because it works. Period. We haven’t had a single flea in the house or on a dog for 2 years now. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada.

And it only cost me $27 for a canister. That’s right, it worked with just a single can. And what’s best is that the IGR lasts for around 12 months. So pretty much the only thing I’m going to do this summer is set off one bomb in the spring and that’s it.

So to cut a long story short…

If you’ve been struggling to get rid of fleas, make sure that a Flea Bomb containing IGR is part of your solution. (You can check on the canister if it has IGR – Insect Growth Regulator). Because with no more fleas you’ll have a healthier dog, a healthier home, time up your sleeve again and money in your back pocket.

Remember prevention is better than cure! Of course I’ll still check my dogs with the flea comb just in case, but I’m confident there won’t be any.

Have a great day, and here’s to a Flea free life!

Best, Dan 🙂
